Academy of Model Aeronautics Model Aviation Hall of Fame
|
Established in 1969, the Model Aviation Hall of Fame honors those men and women who have made significant contributions to the
sport of aeromodeling. The list of members is long and distinguished. Contributions may be in volunteer or administrative activities,
product development, competition performance, or a variety or combination of activities.
The selection committee is composed of past and present AMA presidents and one individual selected from each of the 11 districts by
its respective vice presidents. Each year, a new class is inducted into the Model Aviation Hall of Fame, and the winners are announced
in Model Aviation magazine.
The AMA History Program is an effort by the National Model Aviation Museum to preserve the history of model aviation. Many of these
Hall of Fame members have biographies on file and links to the individual biographies have been provided. For more information about
the History Program, please contact the Assistant Historian at historyprogram@modelaircraft.org or (756) 287-1256 ext. 511.
This year at our open house we were privileged to be on hand for the induction into the Model Aviation Hall of Fame of STARS member
Bob Brown. Present for the presentation was AMA District II Vice President Dave Mathewson, and STARS member and AMA
Associate Vice President Gary Fitch. Dave and Gary each spoke of Bob's accomplishments and service to model aviation and the
AMA. STARS club President Dick Say presented a plaque to Bob which commemorates his Hall of Fame nomination and induction.

PS The lack of photos of airplanes is due to the steady rain we had that day. Any additional photo contributions will be appreciated.
